Abstract: | The fluorescence brightness of organic fluorophores is unstable and weak for biosensing and bioimaging studies so there is a need for materials with high fluorescence intensity. In this work, inorganic fluorophore, silver doped cadmium oxide was synthesized using co-precipitation technique and its lifetime and fluoresence intensity were analysed. Structural, morphological properties of CdO were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopic techniques. EDX measurements were done through electron back scattered detection to identify the chemical composition of the samples. The emission wavelength of prepared samples was determined using UV-Vis spectroscopy in diffuse reflectance mode. Fluorescence measurements were done using Time Correlated Single Photon Counting system with a pulsed excitation source. The average fluorescence lifetime was calculated using the pre-exponential factors and resolved decay time components. The results revealed that the addition of silver ions altered the fluorescence lifetime of cadmium oxide. 2019, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc. All rights reserved. |
